MISCELLANEOUS

Green Education Network strives to post information to the GEN Sites that is both timely and accurate. News and information, however, changes over time and reports that were accurate when posted may be rendered inaccurate by new events or information. Though we may post follow-up reports, and may continue to provide access to the original report, as in an archive of news stories, for example, we don’t go back and change the original report to reflect new developments. If you’re looking for the most recent information on a given subject, and not the history of how the story unfolded, be sure you’re not looking at an out-of-date report.

To obtain access to certain services on the GEN Sites, you may be given an opportunity to register with the GEN Sites. As part of any such registration process, you will select a user name and a password. You agree that the information you supply during that registration process will be accurate and complete. You also agree not to (i) select, register, or attempt to register, or use a user name of another person with the intention of impersonating that person; (ii) use a user name of anyone else without authorization; (iii) use a user name in violation of the intellectual property rights of any person; or (iv) use a user name that GEN considers to be offensive. GEN reserves the right to reject or terminate any user name or password that, in its judgment, it deems offensive. You will be responsible for preserving the confidentiality of your password and will notify GEN of any known or suspected unauthorized use of your account. Further, you agree that you are responsible for all statements made and acts or omissions that occur on your account while your password is being used. If you believe someone has used your password or account without your authorization, you must notify GEN immediately. GEN reserves the right to access and disclose any information including, without limitation, user names of accounts and other information to comply with applicable laws and lawful government requests. You must be at least 14 years old to register your email on GEN sites, and you must be at least 18 to order Membership services or products. Please inform GEN if there is a change in the information you provided at the time of your initial registration, including any change of address or name, by emailing us at services@greeneducationnetwork.com

Scroll below to view our privacy policy.

You agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless Green Education Network and its officers, directors, employees, agents, licensors, affiliates and suppliers, from and against any and all losses, expenses, damages and costs (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) resulting from any violation of this Visitor Agreement or any activity related to your account (including negligent or wrongful conduct) by you or any other person accessing any GEN Site using your account.

This Visitor Agreement has been made in and shall be construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Connecticut. By using the GEN Sites, you consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Connecticut, in all disputes arising out of or relating to this Visitor Agreement.

In the event that any portion of this Visitor Agreement is found to be invalid or unenforceable for any reason, such invalidity or unenforceability shall not affect the enforceability or validity of any other portion of this Visitor Agreement, which shall remain in full force and effect and be construed as if the invalid or unenforceable portion were not part of the Visitor Agreement.

USE OF HEALTH INFORMATION FROM GREEN EDUCATION NETWORK SITES

The information that appears on GEN Sites is presented in summary form only and is intended to provide general student understanding of health care topics. The information should not be used in place of a visit, call or consultation with a physician or other health care provider. GEN  does not recommend the self-management of health or medical problems, nor does GEN promote or recommend any particular form of medical or alternative treatment. People using information accessed through GEN Sites should also research original sources of authority, including with your physician or other health care provider. Information obtained by using GEN Sites is neither complete nor sufficient and makes no attempt to cover all diseases, ailments, physical conditions or their treatment. Should you have any health care-related questions, please call or visit your physician or other health care provider. You should never disregard medical advice — or delay in seeking it — because of something you have read on a GEN Site. You should always seek prompt medical care for any specific health issue and consult a physician before taking or not taking any course of action.

By using the GEN Sites, you agree to abide by the terms of this Visitor Agreement. We hope you enjoy teaching and learning using the GEN Sites, and we welcome suggestions for improvements.

To effect Membership, users must select a user name (email address) and password.

Polls and Surveys

We conduct polls on our website inviting users to vote on questions we pose, and publish the overall results but not votes of individuals. Respondents may be invited to register for email newsletters and no-purchase necessary drawings, but must be 18 or over to do so.

Members and Others Submitting Their Own or Student Writing, Photos or Videos for Publication

Please read our Terms (of Site Use) — also known as the Visitor Agreement — completely. Members and Others who submit — or allow others access enabling others to submit — their own or student writing, photos or videos — and not Green Education Network — are responsible for contents of all material they submit. Complete Terms of Site Use (Visitor Agreement) is posted above.

Cookies

A “cookie” is a piece of data stored on the user’s hard drive containing information about the user. If the user refuses this cookie when trying to checkout, the site attempts to reissue it – it is required for our shopping cart to function properly, for personalization features, and for the user to checkout. We may share aggregated demographic information with our partners and advertisers, but this information is not linked to any personal information that could be used to identify any individual person.

We use a credit card processing company to bill users for goods and services. This company has notified us that they do not retain, share, store or use personal information for any secondary purposes.

We regularly partner with other outside parties to provide specific services. When a user signs up for these services, or becomes a customer of the company, we may share names or other contact information necessary for the third party to provide these services. These parties are not allowed to use personal information except for the purpose of providing these services.

Links

This website contains links to other sites. Please be aware that we are not responsible for the privacy practices of these other sites. We encourage our users to read the privacy statements of each and every website visited which collects personal information. This privacy statement applies solely to information collected by this website.

If a user wishes to subscribe to our newsletter, we ask for contact information such as name and email address. See “Choice/Opt-out” below if you wish to unsubscribe at a later date.

Surveys, No-purchase-necessary Drawings, and Contests

From time to time, we request information in order for users to participate in contests, drawings or surveys. Contact information will be used to notify winners and award prizes. Survey information will be used for purposes of monitoring or improving the use and satisfaction of this site.

Email to a Friend

If a user elects to send information to a friend about our site or products, we ask them for the friend’s name and email address. We will automatically send the friend a one-time email inviting them to visit the site. We do not store this information and only use it for the sole purpose of sending a one-time email.

Security

We take precautions to protect our users’ personal information. When users submit sensitive information through the website, the information is protected both online and off-line.

When our registration/order form asks users to enter sensitive information (such as name, address, or credit card number), that information is encrypted and is protected with the current industry standard encryption protocol – SSL. While on a secure page, such as our order form, a lock icon on the bottom or top of some Web browsers becomes locked, as opposed to un-locked, or open, when you are just ’surfing’. Another way to tell if you are on a secure page is to look at the URL (you can look in the address box or right-click on the page and select Properties to see URL). Secure URLs start with https:// instead of http://. To learn more about SSL, follow this link http://www.verisign.com/.

While we use SSL encryption to protect sensitive information online, we also do everything we can to protect user-information off-line. All of our users’ personal information, not just the sensitive information mentioned above, is restricted in our offices. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, our billing clerk or a personal service manager) are granted access to customers’ personal information. Furthermore, ALL employees are kept up-to-date on our security and privacy practices. Any time new policies are implemented, our employees are notified and/or reminded about the importance we place on privacy, and what they should do to ensure our users’ information is protected. Finally, the servers on which we store personal information are kept in a secure environment.

If you have any questions about the security at our website, you can send an email to service@greeneducationnetwork.com.

Email Links

We use email links throughout the site to allow you to contact us directly with questions or comments. We read every message sent in and try to reply promptly where appropriate (for example, we do not reply to all feedback comments). This information is used to respond directly to your questions or comments. We may also file your comments to improve the site or program, or review and discard the information. The comments are for internal use only and are not shared with third parties.

Emails We Send to Registrants, Members, and Buyers of Products

We send all new registrants and customers a welcoming email. Established members will occasionally receive information on products, services, special deals, and a newsletter. In order to respect our user’s privacy, we give users the option to receive these types of communications. Please see “Choice/Opt-out” below.

Site and Service Updates

We also may send site and service announcement updates, which contain important information about the service. We communicate with the user to provide requested services and about issues relating to their account via email.

Correcting/Updating Personal Information

If a user’s personal information changes (such as your email address), or if a user no longer desires our service, we will endeavor to provide a way to correct, update or remove that user’s personal data as provided to us. This can usually be done by (1) visiting “My Membership Account” at www.greeneducationnetwork.com and clicking “My Account” (logging in with your password is required to change information), or (2) sending changes via email to service@ greeneducationnetwork.com

Choice/Opt-out

Our users are given the opportunity to ‘opt-out’ of receiving our newsletter or promotional emails by clicking on the link provided for that purpose on the email itself, or by sending a request to be removed from the email list via email to service@ greeneducationnetwork.com. Users may also sending a request via mail to Opt-Out Request, Green education Network, P.O. Box 293 Glastonbury CT 06025.

Users of our site are always notified when their information is being collected by any outside parties. We do this so our users can make an informed choice as to whether or not they would like to proceed with obtaining requested services if an outside party is necessary.

Users may also view or alter their information at any time by going to “My Account” from our home page at www.greeneducationnetwork.com (logging in with your password is required to change information).

If we decide to use personal information in a manner different from what was stated at the time it was collected, we will notify users by email. Users will have a choice as to whether or not we can use their information in this different manner. We will use information in accordance with the privacy policy under which the information was collected.
