Mark, after seeing GEN's condemnation of the Environmental Defense Fund's praise of Walmart at http://www.greeneducationnetwork.com/article/gens-gregory-hilbert-condemns-edf-praise-of-walmart (enter "EDF Walmart" in GEN's keyword search box at upper left of page), you asked if there was ANY environmental organization we were comfortable recommending for your donations. Yes, there are many, but these two are the ones I personally urge support of:

First, 350.org. They get it. They understand there can be no compromise with multinational corporations, that they are the greatest source of our woes, and that we are out of time.

Second, Greenhouse Neutral Foundation (GNF). I give it all I have to give, which is pitifully little because I am drained underwriting GEN's losses. It's founder Bob Williamson has given his lifeblood and family fortune to the last drop. Bob "got it" before there was a 350.org. Its USA Exec Director Suzanne Sparling has given mightily and unpaid to create a website at http://www.greenhouseneutralfoundation.org/ that is gaining major traffic. She is working with me to create a new site I am funding that can leverage that site's success so that it and GNF (and to a lesser extent GEN) can reach even more people and have a greater combined impact. We are sworn to do it unpaid for so long as we can survive. Like Bob I have exhausted my resources. I myself will be embracing an "off-the-grid" lifestyle in 2011 so as to reduce my own carbon footprint and carry on the work. You can't get more for a small donation than making one to GNF. And if you can afford two small donations, make the second via Paypal to suzanne@bydezin.com, because she is impoverishing herself and going without healthcare and health insurance for the sake of the cause, and she is the single-most vital person to the cause that I know. And Mark, I know many. --Gregory Hilbert greghilbert@greeneducationnetwork.com greghilbert@hotmail.com

If one person votes against the incumbent, its only one vote. A person on the ballot against an incumbent takes away many votes from the incumbent. In Maryland, the filing fee is $50.00 for the House of Representatives, $100.00 for the Senate. If hundreds or even thousands of ordinary citizens filed to be on the ballot to run for congress, then they would effectively take away many votes from incumbents.
If you could get 2500 citizens to run against an incumbent Senator, or congressperson, the incumbent would be one of 2500 names on the ballot, and the chances of getting 50 % majority of the votes to win would be greatly reduced. A sum of $100,000.00 would pay 2000 filing fees for the House, or 1000 candidates for US Senate. A million dollars would pay for 20,000 candidates for the House of Representatives, or 10,000 candidates for a Senate seat.
Imagine what an incumbent Senator would do with 9,999 other names on the ballot? The point is that the method is legal and would be the most effective way of eliminating all incumbents.

Thank you Gregory for posting the preview of Carbon Hunters..I hope more people will watch the full documentary so as to get the full picture of how big companies will and ARE making a huge profit with carbon credits. What ticks me off is the part where they show the poor people of India working their a**es off...literally by tilling the grounds without basic machinery and picking through the huge garbage mounds of India for mere scraps because they were promised a profit and ultimately see none, as well as the assurance that they are saving the environment, and because they are so poor, they sell the few credits they incur to the project manager..who in turn sells them to someone else. That being said, I think the concept of keeping carbon emissions out of the air is great, but to do it in this way..at the expense of the poor ..to benefit the already rich..leaves something to be desired.

Sustainability? There is none! I'm as mad as hell, the only thing we're sustaining is the wealth of the greedy corporate elite, and I'm not going to trust government or anyone else but THE PEOPLE to do something about it! And you damn right you can quote me! -- Green Education Network CEO Gregory Hilbert

Great stuff! One concern though: You may not want to use the "red/white/blue" font. It looks cheap, informal, and reminds me of the uber-conservative mass emails that are full of misinformation in order to brainwash the ignorant masses.

I really dig the message though and I was happy to sign the petition! Keep up the GOOD work!

It is true that we have many problems. It seems hard for me to be opptimistic. Even so i will debate any day the convictions of the truth and freedom from oppression. The greedy seem to want to avoid being objective about the truths. The truths of greed come from subjectivity and scammming the last nickel from any customer. This is capitolism though so love it or be accused of being a socialist. (Please accuse me, please, lol) Much on the plate..can we clean it all??

Palin stands for everything that is bad and will become worst. If she had half a brain that wasn't washed, she should hope that all the wealth she accumulates will be handed over to her children when she dies and hopefully one of them will be able to think for them selves and decide to actually do something for the benefit of mankind and ultimately decide weather their own children will live or die, because at this rate, I see nothing to look forward to in a corporate run world.. and I am a Canadian.

I agree that politics has become a place where facts and issues are ignored. Political pundits for the most part no longer discuss political issues, but look for explosive issues that will upset people so they can lead them around by their noses. They don't want to solve the problems of the country, but divide us so they can have more power.

Our project obtained second price in the campaign CO2nnect! (www.co2nnect.org)
Second prize: Colegiul National de Arte Constanta - Regina Maria, Constanta, Romania

The jury of the International CO2nnect Competition would like to award second place in the Primary and Lower Secondary School Category to Colegiul National de Arte - Regina Maria, Constanta.

"The jury was impressed by the extent and variety of the activities undertaken as part of their campaign and the engagement of the pupils themselves. It was especially interesting to read about the high level of media involvement and the way the pupils communicated with others through a variety of methods such as posters, badges, an expo and a You Tube broadcast. The high level of pupil innovation and enthusiasm came through in the report and was shown by activities ranging from designing a "taxi-bike" to meetings with partners outside the school. It was interesting to read about the pupils' work outside school, for example by talking to taxi drivers and others about their CO2 emissions and how to drive in a way that minimized emissions. The jury also wishes to commend the cross-curricular approach used and the fact that they networked and cooperated with other schools, both in the nearby region and through eTwinning."
We are very proud...and the price is a trip to Norway!!!

Lawrence, thank you for an excellent comment I'm most happy to endorse. Some day if we meet or talk by phone or Skype or webcam, remind me to tell you why Einstein said "God does not play dice with the universe", while I prefer to say "She(God)plays, but with loaded dice".
