Green Education Network Chairman and CEO Gregory Hilbert begs all to sign worldwide AVAAZ.org petition even long after the Copenhagen failure he predicts, to tell posterity we were not among those now forsaking the untold millions who will suffer horrors in consequence of that failure.

Even as Congress belatedly tackles legislation that would cut U.S. carbon emissions and international negotiators have bickered over a global climate deal in Bonn, a new report by several federal agencies underscores the truths that too often risk getting lost in politics: global warming is real, it’s happening now and if we don’t act soon, [...]

Tidal power is a form of hydropower that converts the energy of tides into electricity or other useful forms of power.
Although not yet widely used, tidal power has potential for future electricity generation. Tides are more predictable than wind energy and solar power. Historically, tide mills have been used, both in Europe and on the [...]

An ocean (from Greek, Okeanos (Oceanus)) is a major body of saline water, and a principal component of the hydrosphere. Approximately 72% of the Earth’s surface (an area of some 361 million square kilometers) is covered by ocean, a continuous body of water that is customarily divided into several principal oceans and smaller seas. Atmosphere and Ocean Circulation
The atmosphere and ocean act as “heat engines,” always trying to restore a temperature balance by transporting heat toward the poles. Our weather is a manifestation of this phenomenon. Low-pressure systems, such as storms, which can be especially strong in winter, are one of nature’s best ways of transporting heat poleward by [...]

The first links in the delicate food chain of Arctic and antarctic wildlife are phytoplankton, krill and shrimp, which in turn feed fish, penguins, whales, seals, and, in the Arctic, polar bears. All are especially vulnerable to the impact of global warming, which is melting the ice and disrupting the ecosystem on which all of that life depends.

The Inuit and other Indigenous people have adapted their way of life to the Arctic Polar Environment, and are threatened by the melting of the Polar Ice Cap sea ice caused by global warming.
Arctic and Antarctic Sea Ice is associated with an abundance of wildlife, plays an important role on global climate, and is especially sensitive to global warming.

Arctic sea ice reflects sunlight, keeping the polar regions cool and moderating global climate. According to scientific measurements, Arctic sea ice has declined dramatically over at least the past thirty years, with the most extreme decline seen in the summer melt season.
